SBR TUNING IN FOR TASSIE ATTACK

At the conclusion of practice at Symmons Plains in Tasmania today, Stone Brothers Racing (SBR) has emerged with some promising results ahead of qualifying tomorrow.

Shane van Gisbergen in the #9 SP Tools Racing Falcon was the quickest of the three SBR drivers, posting the day’s third fastest time around the short 2.4km circuit.

Van Gisbergen’s time was the result of the Team’s practice program whereby each car ran slightly different settings, with the best results across the garage then becoming the base standard.

Tim Slade in the #47 Lucky 7 Racing Falcon also benefitted from this approach, moving from tenth place in the first session to finish the day in eighth.

Alex Davison is also confident of a strong performance this weekend and will have his #4 IRWIN Falcon in its fastest qualifying trim after some minor changes tonight.

The SBR Falcons will return to the Symmons Plains circuit tomorrow morning at 11.20am for qualifying before race one at 4.05pm.

“We struggled a bit earlier on in our first session but learnt a few things from car#4 and car #47 who were running a couple of different settings so we turned things around in the second session which was good. It took a little while for me to adjust my driving style and put a lap together but we’ll head into tomorrow with a lot more confidence.”

“It was super-close as usual. I’m reasonably happy with where we’re at – anywhere in the top 10 here is a good result. As Shane alluded to, we’re trying a few different things on each car so we now know what we have to do improve the car. We kicked the day off being pretty close to where we want to be so with a few changes before qualifying tomorrow we should be looking pretty good.”

“It wasn’t too bad today – the car was solid in both sessions. We fell off a bit towards the end but we have a good base to work on. We made positive changes in practice one and learnt a few things from Shane and Tim in the second session so overall I’m confident that after a little fine tuning tomorrow we’ll be on the money – it’s so close around here that you don’t need to find much (time) to move up the timesheets.”
