Finishing in the top ten would have been a well-deserved result for Jason Bargwanna at Sandown today but James Moffat destroyed his prospects as well as his car.

The DJR driver ran into the back of Bargs' Jana Living Racing Commodore whilst he was running a strong 12th after starting 26th. Bargs says the lap-29 incident was 'ridiculous' and has called for heavy penalties to be applied.

The crew will now work overnight to repair the car in time for tomorrow's qualifying at 11.15.

"Moffat hit me right at the corner's apex on the top of the hill. I just don't know what he was doing; I mean, who thinks they can overtake up there in these conditions? There's just no excuse for it. The guy's a complete moron and needs to be sent home. The damage he's done to our car is ridiculous and he needs to be penalised massively.

"In terms of the race, we obviously played a pretty smart strategy. I must have passed ten cars in the first lap and we were up to 12th when I was put out of the race. I didn't have the pace to get on the podium but the top ten was there for the taking."
