V8 Supercars has officially taken over the CAMS Category Management Agreement for V8 Utes.
Back in February the former CMA holders Australian V8 Ute Racing Pty Ltd went into voluntary administration, leading to V8s taking over the management in a caretaker role for the Clipsal 500 event.
That role has now been made permanent, V8 Supercars today confirming it will run the category full-time from now on.
“We have made no secret of our desire to manage the category long-term,” said V8 Supercars CEO James Warburton.
“It’s been a very professionally run series for many years and we are keen to develop it in a new direction and ensure its continued success for years to come.
“The V8 Utes provide an action-packed, high-octane brand of racing that aligns perfectly with our core brand principles. It’s a great fit, and a fantastic support category loved by fans nationwide.”
The 2016 Utes schedule includes rounds at Symmons Plains, Phillip Island, Winton, Townsville, Bathurst, Gold Coast, and Homebush. All races are part of the V8 Supercars support bill.
