TWIN TOP TENS FOR MCNALLY IN V8 UTES

Glenn McNally carried his practice speed over to qualifying in the V8 Utes today where he qualified in the top ten for the first time this season.

After studying the data from his car overnight and making a number of changes before qualifying Glenn hit the track running in an attempt to bank a solid time early in the session while the benefit of the tyres was at its maximum.

"It was important to get a solid time early and as it turned out it was my best session this year," Glenn said.

In 2009 series points are given for qualifying and Glenn made the most of it this weekend with a good haul of points before a racing lap was done.

Race 1 saw Glenn get 'an average start' but it was still sufficient to gain a position at turn 2.

"I made up a few places over the race but lost them back again," Glenn said.

Glenn finished a strong ninth place after a solid race, giving him a good start to the weekend on points.

"I need to find a bit more pace in the final sector of the track," he said.

"Things are looking promising this weekend, but I still need to work really hard tomorrow to make it pay off."

Glenn has race 2 and 3 tomorrow to finalise the round.
