Race Engineer to be PROCAR's first Technical Manager.

A NEW role as Technical Manager of motor racing organiser PROCAR Australia is to be filled by well-known race engineer Aaron Kelly.

Kelly will work in PROCAR's Brisbane office on streamlining technical processes involving the Australian Nations Cup Championship, Australian GT Performance Chamionship, Australian GT Production Car Championship and V8 BRute Series.

Announcing the appointment today, Deputy Executive Chairman John Cowley said PROCAR's growth had reached a point where a full-time Technical Manager was needed to take control of technical matters.

"Our four categories regularly account for more than 100 cars at race meetings and they constitute the biggest variety of current makes and models in Australian motorsport," Mr Cowley said.

"There is an increasing number of issues as these cars outgrow technical regulations written many years ago.

"The Technical Manager also will be in demand to improve our procedures for handling technical matters at events and to help find solutions for problems involving specific vehicles."

Kelly has been seconded from Brisbane racing car preparer Wayne Park Automotive, where he was involved closely in the technical development for PROCAR of the highly successful V8 BRutes formula.
