Tough day at the office for Bright at the Perth 400

Jason Bright finished 13th and 17th in the two 100km races

Team BOC's Jason Bright was left disappointed with today's results at the Perth 400 but he and the team are determined to turn things around for the final day tomorrow.

Bright finished 13th and 17th in the two 100km races; the problems for the team stemming from the two qualifying sessions earlier in the day.

Bright had high hopes for first qualifying but was left disappointed with 13th on the grid. Qualifying for the second race was even more problematic, setup issues causing headaches for the team and leaving Bright in 22nd position.

In race one Bright hauled the car up into the top 10, showing the pace in the car, before an off track excursion dropped him to the tail of the field. Battling back after a pitstop for fresh rubber, Bright ended up 13th.

In race two, Bright, from 22nd had a hectic race battling through the field, eventually clawing back five places to finish 17th.

Race one: "We had really good pace at the start of the race. We picked off plenty of cars down at Kolb (the corner before the back straight) but I was struggling with confidence in the front and I locked up and ran out of road down there and had to go through the sand trap to get back on and we ended up last. After that it was a matter of using the fresh tyres to get back up as high as we could and that seemed to pay off, we got a lot of track position and our pace was strong enough at the end to hold the guys off who pitted a bit later. It's just a shame because we definitely had top five pace in the car."

Race two: "We didn't really have as good a car as we did in the first race unfortunately, so we didn't end up making up as much progress in the first part of the race as we hoped and when we came out later in the race there was just too big of a gap to other people. We have to qualify better tomorrow. We have the pace to run inside the top 10 but we have to do a better job in qualifying. Our tyre life is pretty good so if we can qualify better I'm sure we'll be able to race at the front tomorrow."

Race one was won by Volvo's Scott McLaughlin from Bright's team mate, Lockwood Racing's Fabian Coulthard and FPR's Chaz Mostert.

Red Bull's Craig Lowndes took out race two from FPR's Mark Winterbottom and Red Bull's Jamie Whincup.
