Top advertising executive announced as new Supercars boss
Top advertising executive Sean Seamer will replace James Warburton as the Supercars CEO next year.
Seamer joins the series following a 15-year stint with Mediacom, the last three of which he's spent as the advertising firm's CEO.
The New Zealander will start his new job at a yet-to-be-confirmed date in 2018.
“Very few times in your life do you get the opportunity to combine your passion with your craft," said Seamer.
"For me, this is one of those rare moments. The Supercars team, led by James, has the sport on a fantastic growth trajectory.
"With innovation in engineering, race formats and international distribution all on the roadmap, it’s a great time to be joining.”
According to the Supercars Board Chairman Peter Wiggs, Seamer's passion for the sport was instrumental in the decision to bring him on board.
“As an incredibly talented young businessman, Sean brings many great qualities which will allow him to build seamlessly on the foundation built by James and the management team," said Wiggs.
"As importantly, he has a passion for and deep understanding of the sport.”
Warburton is set to depart the CEO role on December 22, having taken up a new job with advertising firm APN Outdoor after reportedly failing to agree on salary terms with Supercars during contract negotiations earlier this year.
