TeamVodafone's Jamie Whincup and Craig Lowndes shaved for a cure today ahead of Race 5 of the V8 Supercar Championship Series in Adelaide. Lowndes took to the clippers in the TeamVodafone garage- turned makeshift salon- on Pit Lane, to give today's pole-sitter his first ever buzz cut.

Jamie and Craig united to brave the shave after the V8 Supercar Qualifiers and ahead of the highly anticipated 78-lap Race 5 in the name of raising awareness for The Leukaemia Foundation's World's Greatest Shave. Jamie will be personally donating to the cause and Craig has shown his support for his team mate by surrendering to a number one cut. Both encourage the public to dig dip when donating.

"Believe it or not, I've never shaved my head before and have been wanting to for a few weeks now, so I decided this morning that today was the day!" Whincup said.

"Cancer affects so many people around the world, and I think it's a fantastic cause to get behind.

"Craig jumped at the chance to get near me with a set of clippers. It was a bit nerve wracking" he admitted.

No stranger to the short crop, Lowndes took great delight in shearing his team mate, at one of his favourite events on the V8 Supercar circuit.

"That was fun, Jamie normally gives me a hard time about my hair cuts, so I got my own back today. I get the last laugh this time around!" he joked.

Race 5 of the V8 Supercar Championship Series (250km) will get underway at 2.35pm today (ACDT) and tomorrow's track action kicks off at 11.00am with Race 6 qualifying.
