The V8 Supercar event to be conducted at the Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne this coming March 1-3 will be the first public appearance for the two car team. Cars 65 driven by Max Wilson and car 66 driven by last years Bathurst co-winner Tony Longhurst have many thousands of hours of construction time put into them by the very experienced team at Briggs Motorsport.
"I think we have the ingredients of being a very competative team indeed", said John Briggs. "Tony will bring with him a wealth of experience which will also benefit Max Wilson in knowing how to approach each circuit in advance of the championship series."
Max Wilson started his race career at the age of eleven, racing go karts in his native Brazil, progressing up through the ranks of the South American F3000 and later two seasons as Williams F1 test driver. More recently Max was test driver for the Michelin tyre program before entering the Indy Car Cart Series in America last year.
Max say's he is very excited about racing in the Team Betta AU Falcon for the V8 Supercar Series this year.
"It is such an amazing category of motor racing and I just love it", Wilson said. "The spectators will certainly be in for a great season this year, with so many closely competative cars taking the grid, I think the entire population of Australia will be following the events".
Tony Longhurst is also excited about Team Betta's prospects, saying the race cars have been so well built and prepared that it's a credit to the team in turning out two such fine racecars.
"I'm really looking forward to this season and the partnership with Max, I think together we can perhaps shake a few tailfeathers during the series series." said Longhurst. "I love the Albert Park circuit and it is an amazing atmosphere with the crowd that attends this major annual event. It is disapointing that so many drivers must pre qualify for the events this year, but I guess thats life in a very popular sport! We will be very focussed leading into the first round in Adelaide at the Clipsal 500, an event fast approaching the popularity of the Bathurst 1000. With 32 members in the Briggs Motorsport Team, that relates to a lot of support indeed!"
