BARGWANNA AND RICCIARDELLO GET SET FOR TASSIE ACTION
Kelly Racing drivers Jason Bargwanna and Tony Ricciardello have finalised preparations for the Falken Tasmania Challenge in practice at Symmons Plains Raceway near Launceston, Tasmania today.
Bargwanna suffered from a minor brake issue but due to the short layout at the Symmons Plains circuit, only a small loss of time resulted in the #11 Rock Commodore dropping down the timesheets to 24th position.
A gain of just four tenths of a second would see Bargwanna lift into the top 10, with racing at the 2.4-kilometre circuit always a tough affair.
Tony Ricciardello was pleased with his progress early in progress today, but did not get the gain expected from a change of tyres when conditions warmed at the Tasmanian circuit today. Ricciardello ended the day 28th fastest aboard the #16 Stratco Commodore.
Craig Lowndes was fastest in practice at Symmons Plains today ahead of Steven Richards and Garth Tander.
KELLY RACING QUOTEBOARD:
JASON BARGWANNA - #11 Rock Holden Commodore
"It is such a short lap here that it is critical to have every little component right," said Jason Bargwanna.
"We've struggled a little with the brakes today so we are going to work on that.
"Compared to where Rick is, there is not a lot in it. It's just half a tenth here, half a tenth there.
"It's just a matter of tuning the car overnight to be better and we should be right up there tomorrow."
TONY RICCIARDELLO - #16 Stratco Holden Commodore
"We were happy with our progress forwards in the first three practice sessions," said Tony Ricciardello.
"We made some gains with the chassis set-up and also with my driving as well.
"But for some reason when we fitted better tyres in the final session we didn't get a gain.
"The track temperature as up and it seemed to effect the way the car handled and braked.
"That was a little disappointing but we will have a good look at things overnight and think about what changes we can make overnight to make sure that doesn't happen again and that we keep moving forward.
"The Stratco Commodore felt pretty good earlier this morning so we will keep our heads up and look to tomorrow."
