WOOD RETURNS TO HAPPY HUNTING GROUND IN TASSIE

Hi-Tec Oils Racing driver Dale Wood returns to a happy hunting ground for the fourth event of the 2009 V8 Supercar Championship Series in Launceston, Tasmania this weekend.

Wood was the winner of the Formula Ford event at the Symmons Plains Raceway back in 2006, but is under no illusions as to how tough this weekend's V8 Supercar action will be aboard the #16 Hi-Tec Oils Holden Commodore.

Wood is looking forward to hitting the 2.4-kilometre circuit for practice tomorrow, as he continues to build experience in his first season in the V8 Supercar Championship Series.

The Symmons Plains layout may be simple in terms of layout, but the short circuit often produces super-close racing, with the entire field often covered by less than a second in qualifying.

WHAT DALE HAD TO SAY ...

Dale Wood - #16 Hi-Tec Oils Holden Commodore:

"I'm looking forward to this weekend's racing," said Wood.

"I've only driven in Tassie in a Formula Ford so I can't wait to get out there with all the extra power of the Hi-Tec Oils Commodore.

"It will be a learning experience, for sure. I've won here in a Formula Ford but that will not count for much because V8 Supercars is as tough as it gets.

"There is no room for error at this track. It's a very short circuit at just 2.4 kilometres and the field is always extremely close around here, both in qualifying and the races.

"I'm looking to be consistent and do a solid job. If we can put two solid races together we should be able to come away from Tassie with some good points."
