PERKINS MAKES ENCOURAGING START TO TASSIE CHALLENGE
Dodo Racing Team pilot Jack Perkins has made an encouraging start to the Falken Tasmania Challenge with the 20th fastest time in the final segment of practice at Symmons Plains Raceway in Launceston, Tasmania today.
Perkins was reasonably pleased with the pace of the #11 Dodo Holden Commodore across the three segments of practice held today, improving his times from session to session.
Perkins is confident of unlocking further speed from his Dodo Commodore tomorrow, surmising that there was still some further improvement left in his machine and the opportunity for overnight set-up improvements.
Greg Murphy was fastest in practice today ahead of Lee Holdsworth and Mark Winterbottom.
Elimination-format qualifying, the top 10 shootout and the opening race of the weekend will be held tomorrow, while a further qualifying session and longer distance race will be staged on Sunday.
WHAT JACK HAD TO SAY ...
Jack Perkins - #11 Dodo Holden Commodore:
"The Dodo Commodore was pretty good today," said Perkins.
"I don't think that our time and position is a true reflection of where we deserve to be.
"I'm not saying that we're top two material but we're a bit better than where we finished.
"We had a bad second set of tyres so we had to go to our third set very early.
"We did a really quick time towards the end there on a pretty old set of tyre so we should be in a good position for tomorrow."
