TEST DAY GIVES SBR A BOOST FOR HOME ROUND
The Championship winning Stone Brothers Racing team completed a successful test day under trying conditions at Queensland Raceway today.
Damp conditions greeted the team upon arrival at the circuit, added to the strong winds that gushed across the 3.12km circuit the weather conditions throughout the day were far from ideal.
Throughout the day SBR regulars Marcos Ambrose and Russell Ingall were joined by the team's endurance drivers Warren Luff and Luke Youlden, who both completed several stints behind the wheel of the Pirtek Falcon and Caltex Ford respectively.
With each of the SBR prepared Falcon's completing approximately 150 laps throughout the day team co-owner Ross Stone was pleased with the further developments made by the team.
"It has been a while since we last tested, so we had a plan that targeted a number of goals which we were out to achieve today. I am pleased to say that we achieved them all, and then some," said Stone.
"Overnight rain made the track pretty damp in the morning and the wind didn't let up for most of the day but despite these conditions the improvements in both cars was clearly visible.
"The team has been working hard over the past few months to continue the momentum and stay ahead of the pack. I think today we seen some rewards for this hard work which gives us confidence entering our home event next weekend."
Stone was also impressed with the consistency shown by Luff and Youlden throughout the day.
The next round of the V8 Supercar Championship begins on Friday July 22 at Queensland Raceway.
