MCNALLY HITS THE TRACK AT SANDOWN

Hi-Tec Oils Racing driver Mark McNally has set his sights on improving his times in tomorrow's qualifying session for the opening race of the Norton 360 Sandown Challenge, the seventh event of the 2009 V8 Supercar Championship Series.

Making his second main series V8 Supercar event star this weekend, McNally will benefit from Sandown experience in Formula Ford and Fujitsu V8 Series competition at the 3.1-kilometre circuit this weekend.

The first session was driven by Kelly Racing endurance driver Nathan Pretty, who set the 23rd quickest time before McNally climbed aboard for the next two sessions.

The Hi-Tec Oils Racing crew worked throughout the day on improving the #16 Hi-Tec Oils Holden Commodore, with McNally completing the day with the 29th fastest time.

WHAT MARK HAD TO SAY ...

Mark McNally - #16 Hi-Tec Oils Holden Commodore:

"It was good to drive the Hi-Tec Oils Commodore on a track I have experience on, but we would have liked a better result in terms of our times," said McNally.

"We managed to find some gains and we improved the car in the final session, especially when we put the second set of tyres on.

"We have made quite a few changes and made some times gains, but everyone else jumped up the time sheets as well.

"Hopefully when we put brand new tyres on and make some more changes we can bridge the gap. Under brakes is where we are struggling at the moment with a few lockups over the bumps. If we can improve in that area we should be heading in the right direction."
