Red Bull Holden teases major livery change

Top Supercars squad the Red Bull Holden Racing Team has teased a major livery change ahead of today's official launch.

The teaser images suggest a significant departure from the shades of dark blue that have been used as the base colour since Red Bull signed up as Triple Eight's major backer for the 2013 season, with significantly more white – at least on the rear of the brand new ZB Commodore.

According to the pre-announcement note to media, 'graphics front and rear have been kept to a minimum, to showcase the elegant lines of the new Commodore shape while keeping it a bold and aggressive looking racecar.'

“We’ve decided to really change it up with the colour scheme this year, which looks awesome on the new body shape,” said reigning Supercars champion Jamie Whincup, who will be part of the launch in Sydney today.

The livery tease also suggests that Whincup will run the #1 on his car this season, after teammate Shane van Gisbergen opted to stick with his traditional #97 for the 2017 season after winning the title.

Two of the three Triple Eight-run cars are being unveiled today, with the third entry for Craig Lowndes set to be revealed on January 31.
