INGALL MOVES INTO CHAMPIONSHIP TOP TEN WITH PODIUM
Russell Ingall has achieved his goal of moving into the top ten of the points standings by securing second overall at this weekend's round seven of the V8 Supercar Championship Series at Queensland Raceway.
With a second and a third in today's closing races joining his third place in yesterday's opening race, the Enforcer was able to accrue the points to move three spots up the championship ladder to ninth position.
With strong car pace Ingall ran second for the majority of both of today's races, leading for a few laps after the stops in race two and putting considerable pressure on round and race winner Mark Winterbottom in the final 38 lap hit-out.
Winterbottom won the round after winning both of today's races. James Courtney was third for the round. Winterbottom's win sees him extend his championship lead to 122 points over reigning champion Garth Tander.
The V8 Supercar Championship Series now heads to Winton in Victoria for round eight of the championship on August 1-3.
Fans of Ingall had the chance to celebrate his results today by purchasing the new range of Russell Ingall Enforcer merchandise.
For those who weren't able to get out to the track to purchase it directly, the new range of Enforcer merchandise is now available online. Fans should visit www.russellingall.com.au to view and order all of their Enforcer gear needs.
WHAT HE HAD TO SAY...
Russell Ingall - #39 Supercheap Auto Racing Commodore
"I am ultra-pleased, that was great," said Ingall.
"We ran out of a bit towards the end. It felt really good right out of the pit stop, it started to go off a bit and have a few twitches, I thought I could maintain and hope Mark's (Winterbottom) would go off as well but that didn't happen and it faded and then I had a bit of an excursion there at the end.
"All in all it was a great performance, a great team effort, apart from not having that bit of pace at the end of the races we had great stops, great pace, a great car, it was faultless.
"You have to remember we are still finding out way with this car and finding out what it likes and what it doesn't like, so it was good to get a result and some extra data to put towards the next rounds and keep this going."
