Tony Ricciardello has scored a 22nd place finish aboard the #16 Stratco Holden Commodore in the final race of the Ipswich 300 at Queensland Raceway today.

Ricciardello had arguably his strongest showing for the season today and was running inside the top 20 before being hit from behind by another competitor and spun around at the Turn 3 hairpin mid-race.

The West Australian, who became a father on Wednesday, then staged a solid comeback to finish in 22nd spot and continue to build his championship points tally.

Jason Bargwanna was on a charge in the #11 Rock Holden Commodore in today's race, but an engine failure shortly after his first pit stop ended his day prematurely.

James Courtney won today's race ahead of Garth Tander and Shane Van Gisbergen.

The sixth event of the 2010 V8 Supercar Championship Series will be held in two weeks time on May 14-16 at Winton Motor Raceway in Benalla, Victoria, which is also the test track for Kelly Racing.

In Round 2 of the Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series at Queensland Raceway today Owen Kelly staged a great comeback drive in the #77 Metaland Holden Commodore.

Kelly, driving in Kelly Racing's Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series debut this weekend, started from third place on the grid in this morning's reverse top 10 race, but when polesitter Scott McLaughlin stalled Kelly had no where to go and despite his best efforts he made heavy contact with the rear of McLaughlin's car.

The Kelly Racing crew worked hard to repair the damage and get Kelly on the grid for the final race of the round. A set-up change for Race 3 resulted in greatly improved car speed and Kelly was able to rocket up the order from 14th on the grid to finish in an impressive fifth position. The race was won by former Kelly Racing driver Jack Perkins.

The third round of the 2010 Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series will also be held at Winton Motor Raceway in two weeks time. Kelly Racing expect to field an entry at that round, with details to be confirmed closer to the event.

JASON BARGWANNA - #11 Rock Holden Commodore:

"Looking at the race times and where we were placed on the track we were heading for a pretty good result," said Jason Bargwanna.

"We've got a bit of work to do unfortunately. We had an engine failure, which has put us out, so bring on Winton.

"I got pushed off into Turn 4 and got some grass and stuff up in the front splitter. The engine temperature only went up about five degrees, which isn't a problem.

"The guys cleared the grass out in the pit stop but then it's had a big failure of some sort.

"The debris didn't have anything to do with it. The temperature was still fine and there were no dramas there."

TONY RICCIARDELLO - #16 Stratco Holden Commodore:

"We actually made some really good progress in that race," said Tony Ricciardello.

"We passed some guys and got passed some down the inside but I got turned around at Turn 3.

"It was a pretty obvious punt so that was a little bit disappointing because instead of being 22nd at the time and running for the top 20, we were further down.

"Looking at the positives we have made some progress with the car speed and the entire Kelly Racing crew put in a fantastic effort yet again over the entire weekend.

"The Stratco Commodore came home in one piece and scored more points and I'm looking forward to making more progress at Winton, which is our test track."

OWEN KELLY - #77 Metaland Holden Commodore:

"It was a good result for the boys, who worked really hard to fix the car after that start line crash this morning.

"The changes we made were 100 percent better and the Metaland Commodore was a lot better.

"It would have been a lot different if we knew what we needed and we had that pace at the start of the weekend.

"That's why it's motor racing so it's a good result and the car is straight.

"The whole big picture is just to get the miles and we did that with two of the three races and a really good race in the last race. It's all good preparation for Phillip Island and Bathurst."
