JASON BRIGHT 14TH & GREG RITTER 21ST IN QLD 300 QUALIFYING
July 23, 2005 - Ford Performance Racing (FPR) drivers Jason Bright and Greg Ritter have qualified 14th and 21st respectively for tomorrow's Queensland 300.
These results were disappointing considering the early pace displayed by Bright and Ritter during practice for this 7th round at Queensland Raceway yesterday.
Pole position was gained by Ford driver Marcos Ambrose who out paced fellow Ford driver Craig Lowndes by just over one tenth of a second. Russell Ingall completed a Ford triumvirate that will lead the field into their 280 kilometre battle starting at 1:45pm tomorrow.
#6 Jason Bright - "A couple of the changes that we made for qualifying unsettled the car and this messed up our session. We improved the car after my stops but we left it a bit too late in getting my last set of tyres on and we didn't get our last lap included. I believe that we were certainly capable of being in the top ten had we made some better decisions."
#5 Greg Ritter - "We were close to making it into the top ten but we had a nervous car throughout the session and we could not make the most out of our new tyres. We have a number of handling issues to address before tomorrow's race."
FPR Motorsport Director, Tim Edwards - "We are obviously very disappointed as Jason has qualified in the top ten at every round this season and we were very proud of that - but we let ourselves down today even if it was only by the smallest of margins. Although qualifying didn't show it, we believe that we have two very good race cars for tomorrow and we will be working hard to gain a strong result."
FPR is back on the track tomorrow at 9:55am for a twenty minute warm up session before the 90 lap Queensland 300 gets underway later in the afternoon. (1:45pm)
