Novocastrians Drew and Aaren Russell are keen to build on their solid start to the 2010 Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series when the series resumes this weekend as a part of the City of Ipswich 300 at Queensland Raceway.

The brothers have joined forces this year and are racing for their family run Adrenalin Motor Racing team with experienced campaigner Drew providing support to his younger brother Aaren.

Aaren who is competing in his first season with the category after stepping up from the NSW Formula Vee championship in 2009 is on a steep learning curve.

"Racing in my very first V8 Supercar race at the Clipsal 500 was a mind blowing experience; the walls were so close and there was no room for error," Aaren said.

"I am pleased to have picked up two decent results finishing 12th and 13th in the two races and I can't wait to get back out there. Drew's feedback during the race weekends has been great - have someone to talk to and get advice from has been very helpful."

Drew had a few mechanical dramas during the opening round of the championship. A shock failure forced him out of the first race and a sway bar failure in the second race hampered his charge, however he is looking forward to getting back out on the track.

"I think we showed in the opening round that we have the pace to fight for positions with the front runners," Drew said.

"I was able to work my way from the back of the pack to 6th place in the second race even with the mechanical problem. I am hoping I will be able to qualify well and then build my results from there."

The team has made only minor changes to their Zemana AntiLogger backed Fords since the previous round including repairing some cosmetic damage to both cars.

Round two of the Fujitsu V8 Supercars Series kicks off with the first practice session at 9am on Friday morning.

Unlike the first round of the championship, this round will consist of three races with the first race run on Saturday afternoon.
