Pye back in iconic Shell colours for Darwin
Scott Pye’s #17 DJR Team Penske Ford will revert to the iconic Shell livery for the Darwin and Townsville V8 Supercars rounds.
DJR Team Penske has already given the Shell livery a run this season, with both Pye and team-mate Fabian Coulthard turning out in the iconic colours at the season-opening Clipsal 500 back in March.
Pye’s #17 entry will now switch back to the Shell livery as part of DJR Team Penske’s rolling sponsorship programme, with a two-round deal that covers this weekend’s Darwin outing, and the next round in Townsville.
The livery change coincides with the debut of a brand new chassis for Pye.
"The reaction we received to the twin Shell Helix Fords in Adelaide was extraordinary,” said DJR Team Penske’s managing director Ryan Story.
“The team has enjoyed fantastic support and genuine friendship from many people at Shell and Viva Energy over a long period of time and we are delighted to head to the two events in the North of Australia with a fully-branded Shell Helix Ford.
“The car that Scott will be driving is a brand new chassis, so it makes the next two rounds very important in our 2016 campaign.”
The new #17 chassis is the second new car that the team has debuted this season, with Coulthard having kicked off the year with fresh equipment in Adelaide.
