SUBARU driver Brett Peters took his second race win in as many starts to move into the lead in the Century Batteries Australian GT Production Car Championship in Canberra today.
Peters, from Queensland, won the first leg of round three of the GT Performance division by a healthy margin of seven seconds, after early leader and pole qualifier Mark King retired his Mitsubishi with suspension damage.
Wayne Boatwright finished second in another Subaru Impreza WRX STi ahead of Holden Commodore GTS driver Peter Floyd, who survived a determined attack from Graham Alexander to record his best series result.
Nathan Thomas, in a Honda Integra, scored pole and victory in the Hippies Sports Touring class, taking a tied lead in the pointscore with Mitsubishi driver Nathan Pilkington.
Peters, a newcomer to the series but with almost 20 years experience in single-seaters and touring cars, said cool weather today had suited his turbocharged Subaru.
"The Subaru doesn't like hot conditions, especially in the confines of a street circuit like this, but the weather was perfect today and I couldn't have asked for a better run," Peters said.
