ORRCON'S MAN OF STEEL TO TACKLE THE WOMBAT
Orrcon's Man of Steel, Derek Boyer has been set a challenge by the inventors of the West Australian designed Wombat rapid anchor at this weekend's round of the V8 Supercar championship at Perth's Barbagallo Raceway.
Boyer lives life with power and passion. He is constantly looking for adventure and always keeps an open mind as to his body's potential, never setting any limits, and accepting this challenge from Rapid Anchor exemplifies this attitude.
The Wombat is an ingenious device set to change the way people tie anything to the ground.
The lightweight Wombat may look like a plastic propeller on a stick but it is in fact a fully engineered product designed and manufactured in Western Australia. It is the strongest re-useable shallow ground anchor in the world.
Weighing less than 400 grams the Wombat can hold up to 260 kilograms in the ground. The team at Rapid Anchor has challenged Boyer, Australia's Strongest Man, to attempt to pull the Wombat out of the ground.
"There is nothing like the Wombat being produced anywhere in the world, it has been designed with strength and safety in mind," said Rapid Anchor's John Papa.
"When we first heard about Orrcon's Man of Steel we immediately put the challenge out for him to attempt to pull the Wombat out of the ground. It can be screwed into the ground by a young person but to pull it out of the ground will take brute force and hundreds of kilograms of pulling power.
"Only time will tell who will win, Orrcon's Man of Steel or the Wombat."
During the opening round of the V8 Supercar Championship Orrcon's Man of Steel showed his amazing strength by raising a V8 engine, a feat which normally requires five men to complete.
He will again be showing his strength in Perth this weekend by lifting a V8 engine along with an Atlas Stone and some of biggest pieces of Orrcon steel ever hoisted by a single person.
Boyer will be in action on Saturday and Sunday in the Orrcon and DeWalt Expo area at Barbagallo Raceway. The challenge between Australia's Strongest Man and the Wombat rapid anchor is scheduled for 12:30pm Sunday.
