BOTH FPR FALCONS IN PERTH TOP TEN
May 13, 2006 - FPR Falcon drivers Jason Bright and Mark Winterbottom will start today's first 50 lap Perth V8 Supercar race from 8th and 9th on the grid respectively following today's qualifying and top ten shoot out at Barbagallo Raceway.
Winterbottom and Bright qualified 7th and 9th, both FPR drivers setting fastest laps that were less than 5/10ths of a second away from Garth Tander's provisional pole position pace.
Today's top ten shoot out was the fourth consecutive shoot out that the Prodrive team has competed in at this venue since the team joined the V8 Supercar Championship in 2003.
Today's opening 50 lapper will be held in warm and sunny conditions in Perth, with Mark Skaife starting from Pole position ahead of Garth Tander and Todd Kelly. The finishing order of this race will be reversed for tomorrrow's second race of the round.
#6 Jason Bright - "We knew that we had a faster car compared to our practice times yesterday. We developed our set up quite a bit and have made some major gains ahead of the race. The biggest challenge here will be to preserve tyres and to ensure that we don't get caught up in any of the opening lap chaos that can and usually does happen. I expect that our improved form will be much more evident in today's race."
#5 Mark Winterbottom - "I was complaining about the car after qualifying - but we were 7th, so you can just imagine how good this car is going to be when we dial it in completely for the races. That was my third shoot out and my inexperience showed a bit. We will have a very strong race car and I am looking forward to getting into it."
FPR starts racing at Barbagallo Raceway at 3:00pm local time, (5:00pm EST)
