Percat cleared for Phillip Island

Nick Percat will race at Phillip Island this weekend, after being given the all clear by medical staff this morning.

The LD Motorsport driver’s participation was in doubt thanks to an infection that left him hospitalised late last week. The infection started as a burn on his foot, sustained during the Gold Coast round.

Even after being released from hospital Percat elected to stay at home in Melbourne until this morning, before travelling down to Phillip Island and being given the all-clear for today’s first practice session.

The 2011 Bathurst winner announced he would race through a light-hearted Twitter post.

“Good news, been given the all clear drive today,” he wrote. “Looking forward to putting my best foot forward this weekend.”

Karl Reindler was on standby should Percat have not been fit to race.
