Penske switches back to iconic colours

DJR Team Penske will switch back to Shell colours for the next two V8 Supercars rounds.

Penske started the season with a similar livery, Marcos Ambrose driving a Shell-backed Falcon at the season-opener in Adelaide.

Now, the iconic Shell colours – made famous in Australian racing through the brand’s long association with Dick Johnson Racing during the team’s heydays in the 1980s and 1990s – will return to the DJRTP entry for the next two rounds in Darwin and Townsville.

“Shell Helix has been a great partner of the team for many years and it will be fantastic to see the Shell Helix Falcon back on track in Darwin and Townsville,” DJR Team Penske managing director Ryan Story said.

The team also confirmed that Scott Pye will continue to be the team’s lead driver, with Ambrose expected to get his first race weekend miles at Darwin since stepping down following the Australian Grand Prix, taking over the car for some of Friday’s practice running.
