Following a highly successful Grand Prix meeting, Paul Radisich and Shell Helix Racing started round 2 with renewed confidence. Three podium places ( two seconds and a third ) despite providing no championship points, restored a Ford presence at the front of the field and served notice that Shell Helix Racing are serious contenders for this year's title.

Saturday's schedule included two practice sessions of 45 minutes each, a 25 minute qualifying session and race one of Barbagallo's annual trio of V8 Supercar sprints. With track temperatures creeping over 41 degrees, tyre durability became the major issue facing the Shell Series teams.
