McLean Blasts Through V8 Pack At AGP
Cameron McLean blazed a spectacular trail to pick up 13 places in just 10 laps in the first race of the Netspace V8 Supercar Showdown at the Fosters Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne today.
On his way to 16th place, the Brisbane driver was the biggest mover in the field, a reward for determined driving and time spent overnight re-tuning the suspension of his V.I.P. Pet Foods Ford Falcon XR8.
Starting 29th after a troublesome qualifying session yesterday, McLean had to rely on a radio call from his pit crew for the "go" signal because he could not see the lights.
"I was so far back I couldn't see the starting lights over the roof of the car in front. Although I was a bit slow away I managed to round up a few cars in the first four corners and then worked away at the rest," he said.
"I had just passed Glenn Seton when the safety car came out and after that the order pretty much stayed the same.
"We changed the Falcon's front suspension set-up overnight and I knew as soon as I went out on the warm-up lap that it was a lot better. It needs another small change at the back tonight, but we'll start tomorrow's race in good shape."
In addition to V.I.P. Pet Foods, the Paragon Motorsport Ford Falcon V8 Supercar is sponsored by All Power Steering, Eibach Springs, Freightliner Trucks, Jade Engineering, PPG Paints, Revolution Racegear, Screen Offset Printing, Snap-on Tools, Spandex,s Street Smart Designs, Wurth and Cox Lawn Care Products.
