March 13, 2001 - Canberra based NRC Racing V8 Supercar driver Dale Brede is ready for the second Konica V8 Supercar Series round of the season at Sydney's Oran Park Raceway this Sunday.
The impressive pace demonstrated by Brede at Wakefield Park's opening round earlier this month finds the team in an upbeat mood heading towards Oran Park. While being completely new to the V8 Supercar category, the team knows that the NRC Racing VT Commodore has the speed to mount a strong challenge to gain early points towards the Championship.
NRC Racing V8 Supercar driver Dale Brede believes that the team can improve on their form displayed at Wakefield Park - the form that placed the 25 year old ex Formula Holden driver on the front row for his first ever V8 Supercar race.
"I'd like to think that our pace will be as good, if not better than at Wakefield Park this weekend. I have to ensure that we stay at the front of the field during the races and I am determined to do the best that I can. Simon Wills is the man to beat at the moment and we are working hard to make that happen," He said.
"We have done a great deal of work on the car since Wakefield and we have discovered a few things that hurt us at the season opener, so with a few set up changes in store for Oran Park we will be looking good for a strong result," Dale added.
According to NRC Racing Team Owner Arthur Abrahams, the team will be building upon its Wakefield Park experience this weekend. "We learned a lot about V8 Supercar racing at the season opener - while we clearly had a fast car for qualifying, we'll be looking more closely at racecraft and tactics at Oran Park in order to gain stronger results."
Konica V8 Supercar Series action starts at Oran Park with two practice sessions on Saturday March 17 at 9:15am and 11:15am, followed by qualifying from 2:15pm. V8 Supercar racing fans will be entertained by three races on Sunday March 18 scheduled at 11:30am, 1:30pm and 3:30pm.
