Brock and Monaro score Nations Cup hat-trick.

THE combination of Peter Brock and Holden Monaro cruised to a hat-trick of wins in the Cleanevent Nations Cup for GT sports cars at the Fosters Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne today.

Following wins on Thursday and Friday, Brock hit the front on lap six of today's eight-lap event after early leader Paul Stokell spun off the track with a rear-end mechanical problem and retired.

The pair had engaged in an entertaining battle in the early stages. Both broke the 2002 lap record of 2 minutes 2.518 seconds on lap four, but Brock's time of 2:01.37 stood as the new mark for the Nations Cup category.

Brock continued to a comfortable win ahead of Greg Crick, in a Chrysler Viper, and Denmark's Allan Simonsen, who scored his second podium result and Group Two class victory for the weekend.

The result in the GT Performance class was a repeat of the first two races, with Mark King in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII leading home Graham Alexander in an identical car and Justin Hemmes in a Subaru Impreza STi.

Tomorrow's final Cleanevent Nations Cup race will be over 10 laps at 9.30 am.

Cleanevent is a global company which specialises in event and venue cleaning, presentation services, waste management system design and services, recycling and resource recovery programs and major international event consultation.
