Dale Brede Racing To Win At Mallala Konica Series Final Round
August 9, 2001 - 25 year old Canberra V8 Supercar driver Dale Brede will be giving it his all at this Sunday's final round of the 2001 Konica V8 Supercar Series at Adelaide's Mallala Motorsport Park.
In what has been a strong debut season for the Canberra rookie, Brede has displayed that his NRC Racing VT Commodore has the speed to take him to a top result.
Brede shares a common goal with his Melbourne based team of scoring enough points to upset the apple cart at the top of the Championship points table at this exciting final round.
"I'll be giving it a red hot go at Mallala. I have raced at this circuit many times but never in a V8 Supercar. I am confident that we will be in the hunt from the word go, as the team has worked on a number of improvements that should make us highly competitive. My goal is to end the season by moving into the top three in the Konica Series points standings and I am looking forward to ending my rookie V8 Supercar season on a high in Adelaide," Dale Brede said.
According to team owner Arthur Abrahams, extensive work has been carried out to make the team's non level one team supported VT Commodore one of the fastest of the highly competitive 2001 Konica Series field.
"The welcome break between races has given the team an opportunity to engineer some important mechanical changes to the car and we are looking forward to testing our theories at Mallala this weekend. These improvements relate to both chassis and engine performance gains. Dale has driven many hundreds of laps around the tricky Mallala circuit during his Formula Holden career and we are all keen to produce a solid result to finish off our debut V8 Supercar season together," Abrahams said.
Brede is the only Canberra based driver competing in the Konica V8 Supercar Series and has yet to win a race despite a number of strong performances with NRC Racing. Mallala represents his best opportunity yet to finish on the podium and in doing so, boosting his final Championship standing from his current 6th spot.
The 2.6 kilometre Mallala Motorsport Park circuit is located 55km north of the city of Adelaide. This circuit is an exciting venue to watch the Konica Series V8 Supercars with action starting on Saturday for practice and qualifying along with a warm up and three races on Sunday. /ends.
