Luff and Lowndes go airborne in wild practice crash

Warren Luff and Craig Lowndes have suffered a heavy shunt in practice.

Bathurst has proving difficult for a lot of top runners this week. Name such as Whincup, Tander, Van Gisbergen, and Reynolds have all suffered damage in the practice and qualifying sessions.

In the sixth practice session, just prior to the top ten shootout, the most severe accident of the weekend took place. Warren Luff was piloting the No. 2 HRT machine, which his co-driver Garth Tander had an incident with earlier in the weekend. He lost all use of his brakes and spun out of control at Griffins' Bend.

He collided with Craig Lowndes and both cars were sent into the barriers, then the air. Lowndes' machine came back down right, but Luff ended up on his roof. Both drivers were uninjured in the collision.

These two cars had advanced to the top ten shootout and they have six hours to repair the massive damage.
