Lockwood racing salvages seventh at Sandown

Hopes were not high in the Lockwood Racing garage at Sandown this morning after warm-up did not provide any answers to the team's set-up woes but things got better.

From there Coulthard put in a solid 106-lap stint, with the team choosing well from the multiple strategic options to finish seventh.

The Bathurst 1000 is next up on the V8 Supercar calendar, from October 11th to 13th.

Fabian Coulthard: "For how the car was it's not a bad result. When it's not perfect we're just going from one set-up to the next and really had no direction going into the race so reverted back to what we knew.

"For saying it wasn't a tested set-up here, seventh is pretty good. I think it's just a good consolidation for how the car was prior to the race. We qualified 15th and if someone said to me yesterday we would finish seventh with the handling the way it was I would have been happy."

Luke Youlden: "I'm happier with the car but probably couldn't exploit the full potential because I was getting held up a lot in my stint. We spoke about that before the race. We didn't want to take any unnecessary risks. The difference in the cars isn't that great and I wasn't prepared to risk a desperate move so I held station and waited for a mistake.

"Then the safety car came out, which wasn't great for us because we had to double stack behind our team-mate, and then we were stuck in the train again."
