Leading V8 racing driver Cameron McLean hopes his new-look Ford will help him break free from the pack when the Konica Minolta Series hits top gear at Eastern Creek this weekend.
Howard Racing has entered a major sponsorship agreement with resorts operator BreakFree Limited, which will see McLean's number 27 machine emblazoned with BreakFree's distinctive red, white and black colours.
McLean, presently equal third in the series, will pilot the BreakFree Ford for the first time around Eastern Creek Raceway this weekend when round four gets underway from May 28.
Team owner Mark Howard, who juggles his passion of motor racing with a successful career in property development and construction, said he was delighted to be welcoming BreakFree on board as a major sponsor.
"Howard Racing is motivated to creating success on and off the track and I believe that BreakFree is an ideal sponsor who shares the same commitment to success,'' Mr Howard said.
"I'm expecting the new look BreakFree Howard Racing Group Car with Cameron behind the wheel to perform well at Eastern Creek. We're excited by the opportunities for the BreakFree Howard Racing Team.''
Established in 2000 as a support tour for the Australian Supercar Championship Series, the Konica Minolta Series this year has visited Wakefield Park near Goulburn as well as Adelaide and Winton.
After Eastern Creek the series heads to Queensland Raceway at Ipswich and Mallalla Raceway before its October finale at Bathurst.
BreakFree managing director Tony Smith, an elite sportsman himself having played AFL football for the Sydney Swans, said BreakFree and Howard Racing were a good business match.
"Howard Racing is a professional, success driven Gold Coast based outfit like ourselves and we are proud to be on board as a major sponsor,'' Mr Smith said.
"V8 racing is exciting, vibrant and instantly recognisable with good times.
"This fits well with BreakFree and this sponsorship arrangement will provide valuable exposure for our brand as the Konica series travels around the country, particularly with Cameron and the team performing so well,'' Mr Smith said.
BreakFree has a diversified portfolio of 34 resorts in 15 locations from Lorne in Victoria to Port Douglas in Tropical North Queensland, making it the largest management letting rights group in Australia.
