WOOD TURNS FIRST LAPS AT HIDDEN VALLEY

Hi-Tec Oils Racing driver Dale Wood has turned his first laps around Hidden Valley Raceway in practice for the SKYCITY Triple Crown in Darwin today.

The V8 Supercar rookie has never raced at the 2.9-kilometre circuit, so today was a learning experience for the driver of the #16 Hi-Tec Oils Holden Commodore.

Finishing the day as 28th fastest, Wood is confident of further improvement tomorrow and is looking forward to the challenge of racing at the tough Darwin venue.

Will Davison put Holden on the top of the timesheets with the fastest time in practice at Hidden Valley Raceway today ahead of Shane Van Gisbergen and Craig Lowndes.

WHAT DALE HAD TO SAY ...

Dale Wood - #16 Hi-Tec Oils Holden Commodore

"It actually took a little bit more to learn this track than what I expected," said Wood.

"There are some tricky bits over the back and some pretty ballsy areas as well.

"So I'm not too unhappy at the end of the day. We were running around learning the track and I think there is quite a bit more left in it.

"I didn't really make the most out of the tyres on the first lap. Hopefully tomorrow we can pick up a few tenths of a second a get the Hi-Tec Oils Commodore in a good qualifying position."
