LD Motorsport has confirmed that Andre Heimgartner will race its #3 Holden Commodore this season.
The 20-year-old Kiwi was left out in the cold by Super Black Racing at the end of the 2015 season, that drive being handed to Chris Pither for this season.
But Heimgartner has managed to land on his feet, bagging the LD Motorsport seat left vacant by BJR-bound Tim Blanchard.
“V8 Supercars has always remained the goal for me, so to join Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport and be on the 2016 Supercar grid is a great feeling,” said Heimgartner.
“I’m looking forward to showing what I am capable of and working hard toward success with the LDM team. I’m confident we can punch above our weight throughout the season.
“It’s been a while since I’ve driven a Triple Eight chassis so I’m looking forward to the test day where I’ll get to learn the different driving technique.”
Confirmation of Heimgartner’s signing means there is only one unconfirmed seat on the grid – the #6 Prodrive entry, which will be driven by Cam Waters.
