FPR FALCONS EXCLUDED FROM FINAL RACE
Both Ford Performance Racing Falcons (cars #5 & #6) have disappointingly been excluded from the results of today's race at Hamilton in New Zealand due to an unintentional breach of a technical regulation.
FPR's Team Principal Tim Edwards explains:
"We have been excluded for having the brake discs on the wrong side of the car … they are the correct discs listed in the table (of regulations) but unfortunately they were fitted to the wrong side of the car meaning the groves on the rotors were facing the wrong way … this in no way gave us any performance advantage which was demonstrated with both FPR Falcons experiencing over-heating in the rear brakes during the race … but unfortunately it contravenes the regulations and the mandatory minimum penalty is exclusion … we'll cop it on the chin and make sure we have better processes in place next time to ensure it doesn't happen again."
The exclusion of the two FPR Falcons now means that Mark Winterbottom is relegated to third place on the championship table behind Jamie Whincup and James Courtney while Steve Richards moves down to 22nd position.
