BOURDAIS WINS AT SPA, COURTNEY TAKES V8 LEAD
Armor All Gold Coast 600 international star Sebastien Bourdais has had a busy fortnight, first winning the Le Mans Series race at Spa in Germany on May 8 before heading to Holland at the weekend for round two of the Superleague Formula Series.
Bourdais is one of 18 international drivers recently announced for this October's Armor All Gold Coast 600, and will compete with Dick Johnson Racing alongside Jonathan Webb over the Friday October 22 to Sunday October 24 event.
In contrast to his journey to the six kilometre Spa-Francorchamps circuit, where he took the pole for his Peugeot Total team before he and his team-mates claimed the win on race day, the Frenchman's trip to Holland was less successful with a race one accident seeing him exit early before race two saw him unable to start with a gearbox issue.
While Bourdais was competing in Holland, there was also plenty of racing action going on in the Australian V8 Supercar Championship Series, with James Courtney of Jim Beam Racing taking two wins and taking the lead from defending Champion Jamie Whincup -- the first time this season the two time Champion hasn't been on the top of the chase.
All of the international drivers for the Armor All Gold Coast 600 are set to arrive on the Gold Coast on the Sunday before the event and will be involved in a week of activity, including a full-day test at Queensland Raceway on Wednesday, October 20.
The event will include two 300km races on Saturday and Sunday of the event, with the international drivers required to complete a minimum of 30% of each of the races. Tickets for the event are now on sale and can be purchased through Ticketek.com.au or on 132 849.
