Clark is set to depart the team following the Gold Coast round later this month, thanks to a move from Albury – where the team is based – to Melbourne.
He’s played a significant role in helping find his replacement at BJR, Clark introducing Vale to the BJR crew thanks to a pre-existing relationship through both being ex-McLaren.
Vale has already made one exploratory trip down under, joining BJR at Townsville earlier this season. He will now make a full-time move from his native UK to Australia for the role.
While his Supercars experience is limited to that one trip to Far North Queensland, Vale has extensive Formula 1 experience. He worked at McLaren in a technical co-ordinator role up until the end of 2013, before moving to Williams and taking over as Team Manager when Dickie Stanford stood down in March 2014.
His last foray in F1 was with the now-defunct Manor outfit.
“Peter will join the team for the Gold Coast, which will be Chris’ last round as well,” BJR boss Brad Jones confirmed to Motorsport.com.
“He was at McLaren with Chris, he’s been to Williams and Manor as well. I think he’ll be a good fit. He came to Townsville and had a look around, and he knows Chris very well – that’s how I came across Peter. So yeah, I think he’ll be a great fit.”
