Penrite Oil will be the major backer of David Reynolds’ Erebus Motorsport entry for the 2016 V8 Supercars season.
The company first teamed up with Erebus in the lead-up to last year’s Bathurst 1000, taking over the naming rights sponsorship of Will Davison’s #9 Mercedes for the latter part of the season.
That deal is set to continue, with the team today announcing that Reynolds will race a Penrite-backed #9 entry.
“Penrite is an Australian family-owned and operated company and I am proud to have them as a primary partner,” said Erebus boss Betty Klimenko.
“They really got involved last year and are as excited about racing as we are.
“Technically we also need to be working with performance partners that appreciate the demands of motorsport as Penrite does.”
What is yet to be confirmed, however, is what brand of car Reynolds will be racing. Having recently shifted its operation from Queensland to Melbourne, the team has also been linked to a move away from the Mercedes package, with a customer Holden Commodore the likely option.
