Dunlop will continue to be the control tyre supplier for Supercars until at least the end of the 2019 season.

The current deal was set to run out at the end of 2017 season, but despite the likes of Pirelli showing interest in bidding for the contract, an early extension has been confirmed, meaning Dunlop will continue to supply rubber until at least the end of 2019.

The news comes as Dunlop readies itself to introduce a new soft compound for the 2017 season.

“Dunlop is one of our longest running partners and is an integral part of the best touring racing on the planet,” said Supercars CEO James Warburton.

“The Dunlop soft tyre used this year has made for some of the closest racing ever seen in our championship. Dunlop’s continued advancements in developing an even better tyre will spice racing up even further in 2017.”

Dunlop has been Supercars’s sole tyre supplier since 2002, which means when the new agreement ends it will be an 18-year-long relationship.

The tyremaker is also the main sponsor of the second-tier development series.
