Despite an engine change pre-qualifying Fabian Coulthard still struggled to reach top speed on Bathurst's two long straights today, finishing 14th fastest.

Lockwood Racing engineers are now reviewing aerodynamics before the final practice session tomorrow morning. That will hopefully see Coulthard in the mix for Sunday's 1000km marathon, for which he will start 14th.

The Top Ten Shoot-out begins tomorrow at 5pm.

Fabian Coulthard: "We just had no grip today. We ran other tyres in the practice session before and basically, relative to that session, it felt like a different car in qualifying. It's so close though, which leaves you feeling uncertain, but at least it's a long race on Sunday.

"We're struggling for straight-line speed. We changed the engine before qualifying and it doesn't seem to be the fix. We've obviously got another issue but we're still a bit unsure about what it could be. Maybe drag. With two long straights in this place you don't' need to be down much and you're right down the order."
