Briggs Motorsport has signed two time Australian Driver's Champion Simon Wills to partner Cat Racing ace John Bowe for this year's Queensland 500 and Bathurst 1000 events.
Wills won the CAMS Gold Star for the Australian Driver's Championship in 1999 and 2000 - the same award Bowe earned by winning the same title in 1984 and 1985.
The master (Bowe) and his 24-year-old apprentice (Wills) are expected to combine as a tough pairing for the all important long-distance races aboard the Cat Falcon.
"Simon is obviously a very talented young driver and I am very pleased to have him join John for our Queensland 500 and Bathurst assaults," Briggs Motorsport's John Briggs said.
After finishing 7th at Bathurst last year aboard a Stone Brothers Falcon, Wills has contested selected rounds of this year's Australian Driver's Championship as well as launching an assault on the Konica V8 Supercar Series aboard a Commodore.
Wills has already sampled the Cat Falcon at Queensland Raceway and is looking forward to the opportunity to team up with Bowe.
"I am really thrilled with this chance because from what I have seen, Briggs Motorsport is leaving no stone unturned for the endurance races this year," Wills said.
"This is a great opportunity for me. It is not every day you get the chance to drive with somebody so experienced and fast as John Bowe."
Bowe believes the signing of Wills will prove to be a major plus for Caterpillar's enduro assault.
"I have got to hand to John Briggs, he is pulling out all stops to ensure we have the best chance possible for the 500 and Bathurst," Bowe said.
"At Bathurst these days you need two drivers with regular V8 Supercar experience. With Simon doing the Konica series, he has plenty of laps under his belt in these cars.
"I am confident we will be a very strong combination."
