Cat Racing star John Bowe now has his sights set on making a mark on the championship scorecard at the double points Clipsal 500 event in Adelaide next month.

Bowe's fightback in Western Australia in round two of the championship at Barbagallo Raceway came undone when he spun after receiving a tap from fellow Ford driver Neil Crompton in Kolb corner during the final race.

The #600 Cat Racing Falcon had been forced to start from the back of the grid in today's opening race after retiring with a blown power steering hose in yesterday's first race.

Bowe made strong progress, moving from 32nd to postion 22 at the end of the event.

He had moved up to 16th place in the final race before the incident with Crompton.

"The car was a lot better in the final race and I made my best start for the weekend," Bowe said.

"Neil stuck his nose in under brakes into Kolb corner, but didn't quite get the job done.

"When these cars are on the limit, it doesn't take much of a touch to send you spinning off the track.

"It is a but annoying when you get hit by one of your mates, but it just goes to show our luck wasn't with us this weekend."

The weekend's three events were all won by Holden driver Craig Lowndes.

The Cat Racing team is now planning to test the Ford Falcon prior to the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide from April 7-9.

"We are due for a change of fortune, but it is important for us to try to get this car well sorted for Adelaide," Bowe said.

"Handling was the key to our performance last year, but we have struggled to find a balance this season.

"The car was pretty strong at Phillip Island, but the last two weeks have not gone to plan.

"We have to make sure we have a nice supple car for Adelaide to make sure they handle the kerbs well."
