It has been twelve months since the #600 Cat Racing Falcon first hit the track in anger at last year¹s Australian Grand Prix.

Since that debut, John Bowe and the team established new records for the shortest amount of time taken for a new team to win its first race, gain its first podium position and and earn its first pole position.

Bowe again showed outstanding potential at the opening round of the 2000 season at Phillip Island but is now hopeful of turning potential into results at the Grand Prix held next weekend from March 9 to 12.

"We were in the top four in every practice session at Phillip Island but struck a power steering problem just before qualifying," Bowe said.

"Bathurst also started really well like that. I¹m starting to wonder whether I would prefer to have trouble in practice and have everything come right for the races.

"All we need is for a little bit of luck to fall our way and I think we can challenge strongly. Our old car was very quick here last year and we surprised quite a few people - including ourselves - with how competitive we were."

Bowe is looking forward to doing battle on the Albert Park circuit and using the weekend as a springboard for the second round of the championship which will be staged the following weekend in Perth.

"I really like the Albert Park track because it has a good mix of corners and it is always great to perform before a big crowd at the Grand Prix," Bowe said.

"There is no points up for grabs this weekend, but I¹d love to come away with a good result. It would give everyone in the team a real boost and set us back on track after Phillip Island.

"Like any race, qualifying will be very important because the standard of competition is so tough. There are 20 cars out there capable of winning races and if you get caught back in the pack, trouble is always around the corner."
