SUNSHINE State drivers Mark King and Gary Deane shrugged off Canberra's cold to finish first and second in an exciting second race of round four of the Century Batteries Australian GT Production Car Championship on the streets Canberra today.

King's two wins in two days in his Mitsubishi Lancer RS Evolution V moved him from fourth to third and then second in the eight-round championship, although still a substantial 32 points behind leader Ric Shaw.

Shaw failed to score any points from today's race after retiring with a split water hose on the fifth of nine laps, allowing Deane to pounce on second place in his new Subaru Impreza WRX STi.

Holden Commodore driver Warren Millet took the Pennzoil V8 Touring class win and points leadership after forcing past the identical car of young South Australian Craig Dontas on the last lap.

Robert Chadwick won the Pennzoil 6-cylinder Touring class in a Mitsubishi Magna Sports.

This weekend's races in the Century Batteries Australian GT Production Car Championship will be shown on Trackside on Network Ten throughout Australia next Sunday, June 18, from 3 pm.
