Bowe Looks Forward to Battle in Nation's Capital
Cat Racing star John Bowe is eagerly awaiting the chance to do battle on the streets of Canberra this week, keen to add to his impressive street circuit record.
With several wins at Adelaide and Surfers Paradise in his CV, Bowe is confident of a strong showing aboard the new two-race-old Briggs Motorsport-built Falcon.
"Like always, it is certainly going to be tough, but winning is what we are here for. If you don't aim high, you will never achieve anything," Bowe said.
"The car was very competitive at Eastern Creek and although the results didn't show it - the car was also very fast at Darwin.
"Things didn't go our way up North, but getting caught up in somebody else's accident is going to happen to everyone at some stage throughout the year.
"That is the nature of V8 Supercar racing today. I just hope the stewards stay tough on reckless driving - especially here in Canberra because if you get turfed off the road here you are into the concrete."
Bowe is impressed with his new V8 Supercar, and is confident it should be a strong contender in Canberra.
"The guys at Briggs Motorsport have done a fantastic job with this car," Bowe said.
"The track is very bumpy here and like Adelaide, you need a car that soaks the kerbs up well. It is very important to have a car that that turns in well, because there are a lot of the chicanes and tight corners.
"The lay-out of the Canberra circuit is fantastic - the only problem last year was it was a little narrow, but I understand the organisers have widened the circuit in places this year.
"The other big problem about Canberra is getting heat into the tyres. It is very cold and you don't want to run off the road on cold tyres because there is not a lot of run-off area.
"The tight confines of the track also result in the cars looking very bent by the end of the weekend - I hope we can keep out new car out of trouble."
