Team Betta Electricalto continue sponsorship in 2003 and beyond

Guy Houghton CEO of Betta Stores Ltd today re confirmed the company would continue with its involvement as a major team sponsor of V8 Supercars in 2003 and beyond.

Addressing members at their respective State Conferences last weekend, Mr Houghton confirmed that the success of raising brand awareness of Betta Electrical through V8 Supercars was very evident indeed.

He went on to say, the company is dedicated to a long term sponsorship association with V8 Supercars, with the company having just agreed with it's supporting sponsors LG. Life's Good and Mistral to continue their support of the team for a further two years and perhaps beyond.

We could not be happier, said Mr Houghton, the association with the Team has exceeded our expectations in relation to increasing the company's profile, traffic through stores and creating a supporter base greater than we could have imagined.

The majority of our store members are behind the Team in showing their support at each of the Series Rounds conducted this year and we can only see this involvement increasing as BSL's involvement continues, he said.

Briggs Motorsport has campaigned two AU Falcon V8 Supercars this season for it's sponsor, Betta Electrical, with cars 65 & 66 driven by Max Wilson and Tony Longhurst, maintaining around mid-field positions in most of the rounds so far in the series, he said.

Although this is the Teams first full season in V8 Supercars, we are happy with the progress. However, in saying that, every sponsor would prefer to see their cars cross the line in a one two position, but we are realistic in knowing it takes time to build the team with required expertise, further development of the race cars and build on our supporter base, all of these attributes can not be achieved in just one season.

BSL views it's sponsorship as long term in order to achieve maximum results, both in terms of the teams performance, as well as branding profile for it's members.

Although the first season has largely been to establish the team, we now have plans a foot to introduce new marketing initiatives, a greater range of merchandise for the supporters, along with new promotions both in-store and at the race events themselves, these will further increase the teams profile and popularity with supporters, he said.

We now look forward to Bathurst and the remaining rounds of the 2002 series with great interest and support.

V8 Supercars is a very unique category of motorsport with a public following like no other, we will continue to ensure it works for BSL and it's members, said Mr Houghton.
