TeamVodafone to start tomorrows 'great race' from sixth on the grid
It is now down to business at the Super Cheap Auto Bathurst 1000 with the final practice session concluded and the top ten shootout run and won. TeamVodafone's Craig Lowndes today recorded the sixth fastest time to put him and teammate Jamie Whincup on the third row of the grid for the start of tomorrows 161 lap race.
During the one-hour morning practice session Lowndes and Whincup worked on different approaches with Lowndes finalizing a top ten shootout setup while Whincup continued on with the task of setting up the racecar for tomorrow's race.
It was a relatively quiet day for teammates Richard Lyons and Allan Simonsen who were forced to watch the shootout from the garage after qualifying 16th yesterday.
During the earlier practice session, Lyons and Simonsen shared the driving duties, utilising the session to test the car in race trim with full fuel. Comfortably sitting inside the top ten times, the drivers both acknowledged they were much happier with the car's balance and grip today.
Fellow Ford driver Mark Winterbottom won the top ten shootout, ahead of Mark Skaife and Garth Tander.
