McLean happy in tight WA V8 field.
With practice officially limited to just 10 laps, Brisbane driver Cameron McLean was able to make little progress in preparations today for round six of the V8 Supercar Championship Series at Barbagallo Raceway, near Perth.
McLean recorded a best lap time on the 2.4 km circuit of 60.46 seconds in his V.I.P. Pet Foods Ford Falcon XR8, less than 1.6 sec. behind the fastest driver, Todd Kelly, but nevertheless back in 30th position in an extremely competitive field for the VB 300 races tomorrow and Sunday.
"It's unbelievably close - you could throw a blanket over this grid," McLean said.
"The track was very slippery on the first day, but I was reasonably happy with the car.
"We're making some small changes tonight because I'd like to have it right - we have a huge day tomorrow with at least four sessions, including a 100 km race in the afternoon."
