AMBROSE ACCEPTS BREACH OF 'CONDUCT PREJUDICIAL' RULE

The Investigating and Prosecuting Officer (IPO) yesterday concluded an investigation into an alleged breach of the rules (Conduct Prejudicial) by Marcos Ambrose following statements made at round three of the 2005 V8 Supercar Championship Series at Barbagallo Raceway in Perth, WA.

The IPO found that there had been a breach of the rules and following an admission by Mr Ambrose, the Stewards imposed a penalty of a fine of $15,000, of which $5,000 is suspended until the end of the current Championship Series providing that there is no further breach of this rule.

The 'Conduct Prejudicial' rule (B6.5.4 - AVESCO Operations Manual) reads:

A person must not do any act, make any omission or engage in any conduct - which includes words - which is or may be reasonably:
(a) seen as being prejudicial to the interests of any Meeting, or
(b) likely to bring the sport of motor racing into disrepute.
